Pyrite Suns are found right in Illinois, USA almost exclusively. These crystal structures formed deep underground about 350 million years ago through immense pressure between layers of anthracite coal shale, and were discovered by coal miners in Illinois.
The word Pyrite comes from the Greek word "pyr", which means fire. Pyrite has a direct connection to the energy of the sun in any shape, but particularly when in this shape. Pyrite suns are becoming more and more rare as all but one of the mines where they're found have closed.
